一番好きなクリスマスソング・・・
１９８４年　バンドエイドの「ドゥ・ゼイ・ノウ・イッツ・クリスマス？」です

英国ミュージシャンのスーパースターが終結したドリームチームとも言うべき
「バンドエイド」によるエチオピア支援のチャリティソングで、当時まだ中学生
だった私にとってボーイジョージ（カルチャークラブ）やフィルコリンズ、ボノ、
ジョージマイケル（ワム！）など名だたるアーティストが一同に会し、リレー
形式で一曲を歌い継いでゆき、サビを合唱する姿は　子供の頃の
ウルトラ兄弟や仮面ライダーが勢ぞろいしたような衝撃と感動を受けたものです。

そしてこの曲の成功が　USA for Africa　の「Ｗｅ　ａｒｅ　ｔｈｅ　ｗｏｒｌｄ」へと
つながってゆくのです。

その後、大人になって歌詞の中に
「飢えているのが私達でなく彼らであることを神に感謝しよう」というような
箇所があるのを知ったり、偉大なミュージシャンが集ったところで戦争も飢餓も
なくなるわけではない、という現実も知りました。

それでもやっぱり、この曲を聞くと自分が幸せな時でも辛い時でも、ちょっとでも
誰かの役に立てる人でありたいと思うのです。

まあ、ちょっと書いてて恥ずかしくなってくるからこの辺でやめます。
